India adds 35.2 GW of solar capacity in the first nine months of 2026

India added about 35.2 GW of solar capacity between January and September 2026, up around 19.5% on a year earlier, according to a JMK Research report. Utility-scale projects contributed 24.4 GW and rooftop solar 9.8 GW. Cumulative rooftop capacity reached about 33.4 GW by the end of September. Gujarat led combined solar and wind additions with about 12.9 GW, followed by Rajasthan at around 9 GW.
